How To Play Craps Online

Learning how to play craps online.

Craps is one of the most widely played casino games in the world. The knowledge of how to play craps is essential for enjoying this game; otherwise the game can become quite frustrating. In the first instance, this game appears to be quite simple. But, if you don't know the basic rules of craps, the game can become very complicated. Therefore, it is important to learn the basic winning strategy of craps.

In order to learn the basics of craps, one should be able to determine whether the craps session has begun or not. For this purpose, take a look at the position of the “puck” on the table. It is a small disc with the words “OFF” written on one side and “ON” written on the other. If the game has not begun and the “come out roll” (the first roll of a craps session) is about to start, the puck's “OFF” side will be visible and it will be placed away from the playing surface. If the session is already in progress, then the puck will be placed on the playing surface and the “ON” side of the puck will be showing.

For betting, understanding the “Pass line bet” is essential for anybody willing to learn the game of craps. This bet is placed when the “come out roll” is about to be cast. This bet is made in anticipation of the “come out roll”. To make a “Pass line bet”, place your chips on the wide band (with “PASS” written on it) that encircles the outer edge of the table. This bet wins if a 7 or 11 is rolled and loses if 2, 3, or 12 are rolled on the come out roll. In both cases, the session resets and starts again. If any other number is cast, it means that the session has started and that number becomes the “point”. The “ON” side of the puck is placed on the “point number”. When the shooter hits the “point” again, all pass line bets win and they lose when 7 is rolled. The session ends here.

When “point” is established, the pass line bet can be backed up with an odds bet. It is known as “placing odds” or “placing free odds”. If you know how to play craps, you must be aware that only some bets can be backed up with free odds and the “pass line” is one of them. Once you have decided to back up your pass line bet with odds bet, you have to put more chips just below the pass line. This is one of the best bets in the casino because it further lowers the house edge on a pass line bet, which already has one of the lowest house edges. Considering the house edge is important when you are learning to play craps because it determines the amount of money paid back to you if you win. This is why pass line bet along with free odds, is considered the best bet in craps.
