Craps Dice
Craps is a casino dice game. During the course of a craps game players will take turns rolling the dice as other players place bets on the outcome of their roll. Players can bet on the rollers success, failure or even on specific numbers that will be rolled.
The success or failure of a craps roller’s roll is based purely on the numbers of the dice. The first roll of the players turn is known as the come-out roll. A win or loss can be determined as early as this first roll. If the player rolls a 7 or 11 then they automatically win and the next game begins. If they roll a 2, 3 or 12 they automatically lose. 2, 3 and 12 are known as craps rolls. If any other number is rolled this number is known as the player’s “point” and must be rolled again before the player rolls a 7 in order to win the game. The player rolls continuously until they win or lose.

Because dice are such a central and important part of the game of craps there are many measures taken to make sure that the dice are not tampered with or altered in any way. In casinos precision craps dice are used. Precision dice are special dice that are made with care in order to provide a perfectly random roll every time. The corners are even and rounded and the pips or dots are flat on the surface instead of indented to make sure that the dice aren’t weighted in any particular direction. Precision dice are also often clear to show that there is nothing weighting the dice from the inside. Craps dice are also carefully inspected before each game. If the dice are thrown from the table they are inspected as well.
If you play craps online you can also be ensured that every measure has been taken to create software that produces totally random dice rolls.
